About Me
Hi, I’m Heather and right now I’m exploring the Grisaille style of painting, focusing on landscapes to tune my understanding of perspective and color.
My more recent works begin with an underpainting consisting of black and white gessoes, then later glazed in transparent oils. I like to use the black and white gesso to work out the values and the acrylic is great for sketching out the composition because of its quick drying time.
I like to glaze the color in with the oils after the initial underpainting is down because of the superior blending capabilities that oil has over acrylic.
I’m completely self taught as an artist without a single hour of formal art training. I picked up a pencil for the first time in August 2023 and it’s been an adventure since. I never dreamed that I would be writing this bio when I picked up that pencil that August day. But, here I am!
I sincerely hope you enjoy my art.
